Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company provided entitlement, civil engineering design, survey, and environmental support for this 1M+ SF industrial warehouse. Off-site infrastructure required to service the site included thousands of linear feet of regional water and sanitary sewer lines, extension of a public 3-lane undivided industrial roadway, and addition of a drainage channel. The regional utilities were designed strategically to consider future development within the Alliance Westport development, which covers approximately 3,500 acres. The on-site design included employee parking, truck courts, water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage. Coordination with TxDOT was required for the two driveway connections to FM156. Our landscape architects designed schematic berms along the roadway frontage of Westport Parkway, softening the transition between built environments and screening views to passenger vehicles within the employee parking lot.
GAIN GROUND: The site required analysis of existing and future offsite flows and our H&H engineers designed long box culverts and a channel to bypass these flows around the site. After the owner acquired the adjacent downstream property, the site was redesigned on short notice which eliminated the need for a planned regional detention pond with no adverse impacts to other properties. All infrastructure modeling and design, including on-site drainage systems, was performed using dynamic modeling software to simulate the complex timing and flow interactions between pipes, ponds, channels, and other drainage elements. Larger-scale watershed modeling and delineation of downstream floodplains was performed using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS software programs.
