Our landscape architects, hydrologists, and engineers designed beautification improvements to a retention pond and the surrounding area through re-grading, drainage improvements, and plantings. A 500-linear-foot hiking trail connector with interpretive monuments was added to the area to increase access and value to visitors. Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company designed low-flow flumes to connect storm drain outfalls to the water’s edge, making maintenance easier and reducing erosion and standing water.
Soil amendments and new plantings were designed to improve the appearance of the pond to better fit with the surrounding residential development. Select areas were re-graded to serve as lawn or recreation areas during non-flood conditions. In keeping with Frisco’s progressive posture, this project involved using the City reuse water line for irrigation of the landscaped areas. Native plantings were used wherever possible to reduce landscape water use and increase the sustainability of the landscape. Our surveyors provided the topographic survey for this 25-acre retention pond beautification project which is one of nine fishing ponds in Frisco.
