Prairie Ridge, a master-planned community located between Mansfield and Midlothian, provides small-town charm with big-city benefits. With direct access to US Highway 287, it is only 30 minutes from Dallas and Fort Worth and close to recreational amenities at Joe Pool Lake. At full build-out, Prairie Ridge will have approximately 4,500 single-family residential units and a population of more than 13,000 people. Our efforts on this on-going phased project includes master-planning, modeling and design of overall water and sanitary sewer systems (operated and maintained by the Ellis County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 and Peloton Land Solution, a Westwood company), drainage studies and detention pond design, paving, grading, erosion control, construction management assistance, and final acceptance of special district facilities.
Upon taking over the project during the first phase, our team was able to save the client more than $1M through the redesign of the storm drainage system by avoiding a 17-foot-deep TRWD water transmission line crossing. In addition, our engineers performed a routing analysis which allowed for the removal of a detention pond, resulting in additional acreage for a future elementary school site (Midlothian ISD). To date, Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company has designed extensive public infrastructure including thousands of linear feet of Prairie Ridge Blvd (120-foot ROW), a 4-lane divided thoroughfare that is the spine of the community, and accompanying storm drainage and utilities including 20” waterline and 18” wastewater line.
Future phases will include the design of additional thoroughfare and a roundabout at a major intersection with Prairie Ridge Boulevard. In addition to public infrastructure, our team is performing the engineering design for the first three phases of Prairie Ridge which will include approximately 400 single-family lots.
