4-lane and 6-lane divided roadway
Currently under construction, this divided roadway spans from Preston Road to future Coit Road (CR 86), replacing an existing 2-lane asphalt roadway for most of its length. Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company provided project management and design services to the City of Celina for approximately one mile of 4-lane divided roadway and a quarter mile of 6-lane divided roadway (master-planned thoroughfare). Construction is complete on a new 4-lane divided roadway extension of Ownsby Pkwy west of Preston Road, which included the design of a roundabout.
Our engineers and planners considered both interim conditions and ultimate build out of three intersections and the perpetuation and rehabilitation of several fronting driveways and connecting roadways along the thoroughfare. Of particular note was the need to maintain access to several residences and an elementary school during construction. To achieve this, our team worked with the city to develop a re-routing and road closure construction phasing plan that will maintain this access and save the city significant time and money by avoiding the placement and expense of temporary improvements that would subsequently be removed. Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company assisted the city in community outreach efforts, conducting a public workshop during the design development phase of the work.
The project scope included right-of-way research, platting, design survey, subsurface utility investigation, roadway design, drainage and stormwater infrastructure, sanitary sewer facility improvements (5,130 LF SS extension), water main relocations, bid support, and construction administration services. Notably, the design and plan production for this project was conducted on a fast-track schedule to meet specific obligations for the city related to development agreements.
