Airborne Tactical Advantage Company (ATAC) opened this 75K SF air cargo hangar adjacent to the west boundary of the Alliance Airport in the City of Haslet Airport Facilities zoning area. The site, chosen after a nationwide location search, is the company’s largest operation to date. Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company performed the site civil engineering design including an employee parking lot and building ramps, water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage. One unique challenge facing our engineers was connecting the entire length of the parking lot to an existing private access road. The grading and drainage had to be designed to address this unique arrangement while maintaining operability for large trucks and other building users. Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company worked closely with the Alliance Development Review Board to incorporate the required design standards while also maintaining and meeting the City of Haslet Airport Facilities development requirements. GAIN GROUND: A stream adjacent to the project was channelized and relocated in the late 1990’s but was still shown in its original location with its original floodplain on the current FEMA map, threatening to delay the project. Our hydrologists prepared a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for Stream HEN-1, a tributary to Henrietta Creek, that runs along the western side of Alliance Airport. Our survey crews performed a topographic survey of the relocated channel and a culvert crossing, and this data was used to update the effective hydraulic model to reflect current conditions. Peloton Land Solutions, a Westwood company worked closely with FEMA and the City to ensure that this occurred concurrently with the rest of the project and avoided delays to construction.
